CCM is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of hockey equipment, accessories, figure skates and apparel – tracing its roots back to 1899. With its headquarters located in Montreal, the Company has operations in Canada, the United States and Europe.
Birch Hill acquired CCM Hockey from adidas AG in 2017 through a corporate carve out. At the time of the acquisition, CCM was unprofitable. Our investment thesis was based on CCM operating in a stable industry with significant brand awareness and consumer loyalty. Birch Hill believed that CCM had a clear path to a better margin profile and had the potential to grow its market share.
ROI – Since Birch Hill’s acquisition, CCM has significantly improved its margin profile to be more in line with industry peers. CCM has also grown sales by over 50% through a combination of strategic acquisitions and key product extensions.
